Sonic - Essay ExampleThey are proven to be successful in this stress of computer software production. In fact they are dubbed as the leader in digital media. One of the key reasons wherefore they attain this status is their zeal to improve their overall business position through innovation. In fact they are one of the pioneers in burning information in blue-ray DVDs that can store massive amounts of data (up to 50 gigabytes). With the proliferation of the third generation (3G) technology, it is almost a necessity to tap this market. Though Sonic has already been in the business of providing its customers technological mileage in digital media software as compared to its rivals, it has yet to extend its market to busy earpieces and gadgets. To keep up with the unbendable paced, ever changing, and ever shifting world, Sonic, in my opinion, should set its eyes on capitalizing on the benefits given by the most recent technology in mobile devices, particularly on its power to provide real-time duplex video streaming that can enhance productivity, as well as personal interaction. They should as well find ways to maximize the productivity of their customers by utilizing commonly used objects, such as watches, for storing and playing digital media. Asbestos Increases Mammalian AP- Endonuclease Gene Expression, Protein Article

Asbestos Increases Mammalian AP- Endonuclease Gene Expression, Protein Levels, and Enzyme Activity in Mesothelial Cells - Article congresswomanMost previous studies have focused on desoxyribonucleic acid repair in bacteria. Asbestos has been found to increase the production of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8OHdG), a modified DNA nucleoside. conversion to 8OHdG has been attributed to oxidative stress. Inheritance of damaged DNA can result in permanent mutation, leading to disease, and cell proliferation. 8OHdG can be removed by DNA base excision repair enzyme systems in mammals and through the action of AP endonuclease (APE), which acts similarly to E. coli exonuclease III and endonuclease IV. AP endonuclease excises the modified base on a segment of the DNA strand. The scatty base is then replaced through the action of other members of the DNA repair system, restoring the original, correct sequence of the DNA.This paper was also the first to show that a carcinogen that is associated wi th oxidizer stress in normal lung cells induces AP endonuclease. The results obtained from the research can be used in designing new studies that will lead to a higher rationality of the role of AP endonuclease in DNA damage repair and its subsequent effects like cancer and diseases that are due to DNA mutations. The main objective of the subject area was to evaluate and understand how asbestos-induced DNA repair is carried out. The experiment was performed by exposing rat mesothelial pleural cells, which form the membrane surrounding the lungs, to non-toxic levels of crocidolite asbestos, a potent agent of mesothelioma in humans. After 24 to 72 hours exposure to asbestos, cells were removed from the medium. Cell viability was determined, and nuclear and mitochondrial extracts were prepared to determine APE protein levels, mRNA concentrations, and enzyme activity. On the other hand, opponents believe that its legalization will encourage its utilization that will be harmful socially, as well as ethically. On this issue, my side was of the opponents that legalization of marijuana in the United States is an awful perspective and will be harmful for the country. Fortunately, I was abl e to convince my gathering, as I put efforts by taking a Rogerian preliminary that included discussion of both sides of the issue and then focusing on my side with evidence, whereas, Toulmins approach of the argument would have resulted in disappointing outcome. In particular, Rogerian approach of argument is my usual style of argument, as it allows the reader/listener to know perspectives about both sides, and it allows the individual to acquire confidence of the public that makes easier to convince the

Jane Addams was one(a) of the pioneers in the Hull house and would go on to become the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her social reform policies that would change women to get basic rights including the right to vote in all the states (Legates 267). Q.2 The New Deal that was initiated by Franklin Roosevelt was to develop the economy through the great depression and it saw with it the inclusion of sev datel programs for women. The New Deal however acknowledged the existence of single parent families specifically single mothers and widows and included them in their job creation acts even though some of Roosevelts cabinet members did not approve of this. ... from affluent single parent families that had been beneficiaries of the policies legislated during the Roosevelt era allowing women to work in industries even if not married. The groups although were progressive did see a rise in chauvinism as some of the senior women were still assigned to basic roles as winning refreshments or taking notes until one of the male members raised a complaint over it. There was a rise in black feminism in these organizations as was seen when the female members of the group organized a sit in to protest their side-lining. White women also criticized the SNCC for their marginalization and even drafted a paper that they presented to the recent chairperson Stokeley Carmichael that said that the status of women in the organization is the same as that of the black individual hired by a corporation for the purpose of diversity. Transcendentalism of Henry David Thoreau Essay Example for Free

Transcendentalism of Henry David Thoreau EssayHenry David Thoreau had many talents and interests and who spent most of his time communing and appreciating reputation. He even looked for God behind the stars. In his spurts, he urged his readers to re-examine their costs as he did with his. He had many questions about life and searched nature for answers. He was fundament on the wholey a transcendentalist in the sense that he goes beyond sensual experiences to see the innermost meanings in the mundane. He sees non just the physical beauty of nature, scarcely also its effect on the spirit, and its signification to life. In On Civil Disobedience and in Walden he bared his transcendental philosophies to his readers. On Civil Disobedience. At star point he questioned a g everyplacenment ruled by the majority. The majority came to power only because of their strength in numbers and not because they were a collective body who were make up in everything, every time. Even if the m inority had come to accept that as fair enough, it was still contentious if the majoritys decisions were based on right over wrong and not just what were easy and acceptable. Thoreau further asserted that only conscience can decide right from wrong. Every single man, therefore had surrendered his conscience to this majority. Why then, he asked, should each man be given his own conscience? He believed that man must stand up for what he thinks is right and not just let the majority to decide it for him. Respect for what is right must take precedence over respect for law. It is every citizens lesson duty to defend what is right all the time. He cited corporations and soldiers to expound on his thoughts about conscience. It is generally accepted that corporations fox no conscience, but if it is run by men of conscience then it becomes one with a conscience. Laws do not make a society just. It makes citizens obey laws that do them injustice instead. The soldiers are make to march to wa r against their wills, against their common sense and consciences (Thoreau 1849). In Walden Chapter 1 Economy. An Indian wove baskets to sell to his neighbors. The Indian thought that weaving baskets was something he could do and assumed that such(prenominal) was his role in life, as it was his neighbors role to buy his baskets. The basket would put food on the Indians table.A neighbor refused to buy. For Thoreau, the Indian must realize that his neighbors must really want to buy the baskets, or the Indian must make the baskets attractive to at least enamor the neighbors to buy them, or the Indian must make something else to sell to his neighbors. Thoreau himself made a basket but he did not make it to sell it but he made it so no one would buy it. What Thoreau was trying to point out was that one need not only see his status of things. He must see beyond ones end and consider others have their own desires and thoughts, which may sometimes be contrary to his. In Walden Chapter 5 Solitude. Thoreau found moments alone as wholesome, recreating and reparative. Solitude does not make one lonely. There will be times when a person would alternatively be by himself than in a company of strangers. A man at work or in deep thoughts, even in an single-valued function or in school with people around, can still be alone. Physical distance between a man and other people does not make him alone. When one is busy even if he is alone will not make lonely. Strange, though, that when he comes home in the company of family after work, he seeks to compensate for the solitude he had spent earlier in the day. When asked if there were days when Thoreau would wish to be nearer the others instead of the isolation of the woods, he countered that he was nearer than the nearest star in the Milky Way. He said that there would be nowhere that he would wish to be near than nature that give and nourish life, kindred the brooks and the trees. In Walden Chapter 8 The Village. Losing ones way in the woods when it was very dark was common and happened often. ace was guided by ones feet instead of ones eyes in finding ones way underpin. Even the one most familiar with the way was lost in the woods too. For Thoreau these people were like the pilots who were guided by beacons and lighthouses, who were steered off course but were guided back by their intuitions. Thoreau believed that it is only when we have lost our way, that we realize that our world is indeed so vast. It is also when we are jolted back from stupor, momentary distraction or confusion that we check our compass again to find our way back. It is also when we have lost everything that we realize how blessed we were all along. It is also through all these that we find ourselves. In Walden Chapter 10 Baker Farm. Thoreaus next door neighbor was an Irishman who dreamt of life in America with tea, coffee and meat. He and his son had to work elusive to afford these. Thoreau had much simpler life compared to t he Irishman. Thoreau had a small house that was easier to clean and tidy up. He did not work hard, so he would not have to eat much and he did not live on tea, coffee and meat so he did not have work hard to buy them. For the kind of hard work the Irishman did, he had to have thick clothes and thick boots which were more costly than Thoreaus light clothing. Thoreau did light work, like fishing, and he had more than enough to feed him for the week. The Irishman dreamt of a allayerable life in America. Thoreau thought that life in America was not about comfort but more of freedom to live in comfort. From the look of things, the Irishman would not improve his lot if he continued to work hard and not flip-flop his mind set and attitude in life. In Walden Chapter 17 Spring. Spring is like man reborn. We are upbeat in anticipation of opportunities ahead. The lesson of Spring is to live in the present and leave the past behind. To see the world with renewed sense of joy and promise, we m ust forget the burdens and the unpleasant past. Hurts, anger and pain have healed and forgiveness had taken their places. When Spring comes, we should not live in Winter. Even plants come into life in Spring. Thoreau had likened our life to Spring when God has forgiven and disregarded our sins and we come into the Spring of our lives.ReferencesThoreau, H.D. On Civil Disobedience. Learning curve Essay Example for Free

Learning curve EssayThe term the pecking curve has a popular, well-known marrow in American culture. In consideration of how and when you start to examine the way that term is used, most mint discover that the primary and perceived meaning of the term really doesnt make any sense. If the curve is drawn on a chart which tracks resulting knowledge against time spent attainment, it might look equivalent the Tetris (a popular logic game) graph here to the right. By visual consideration, the chart is steepest at the beginning, when a person first starts learnedness how to play Tetris. The beginner normally gains knowledge quickly, learning the game in just a few minutes.Though there is much to learn, the player will never learn as quickly as he or she did at the beginning learning how to play the game. Here is another example I believe that most people would consider the process of blowing leafs out of their yards with a leaf blower is very simple, but is that the instance? Fo r many, regardless of education and or experience, it only takes about ii minutes to get up and running blowing leaves. Additional knowledge milestones await most people after they birth invested more time, such as flushing corners, minimizing blowback, and flagrant the cyclists. On the charts shown in this article, the knowledge milestones be made up and arbitrary, however labeling the vertical axis can be challenging. For most people, learning can be a series of successes, but it can also be a slow refinement of technique. It isnt really accurate for a person to say they are still learning to dribble a hoops when many NBA professionals with years of experience are still refining the process. Shown to the right is an expanded timeline on the basketball learning curve. Many of the knowledge milestones on this chart cant really be versed in an hour. Most people can and do learn that they exist, but are not able to actually fare them for another year. This quest for adequate un derstanding was spurned by my desire to identify activities which nurture a shallow learning curve. If steep learning curves are grueling, then shallow ones must be enjoyable, right? Shown here on the right is a graph for the learning curve of World of Warcraft. It is definitely enjoyable. Maybe the vast number of things to learn makes it so compelling, or the timed-release of new experiences.Speed of learning is probably not the best way to determine whether or not something is fun. Another example. Learning to drive a manual transmission. Learning to drive a manual transmission is difficult because it requires a certain level of knowledge and skill before it can be done at all. The payoff, and true measure of success, is learning it well enough to dare to venture out into real traffic on a persons own. In consideration of the aforementioned graph, it is cognitive to most people that in many examples of learning, there is only one real milestone to be reached. This final graph compares the learning of two opposite scholarly persons, and it is the only chart where the idea of a steep learning curve actually makes sense. The lower (green) section of the graph represents the state of being unable to perform a certain task. The upper section represents the state of being able to perform it. The orange line student can be said to have a steep learning curve. The sample student crossed the threshold into able after one day of learning. The red line sample student had a shallow learning curve. Said student needed four days to become able to adequately learn and or retain the learned knowledge.Posters note I found the foregoing article one day while doing research on different learning styles. The original post on Cockeyed. com I believe was meant to be satirical, however in my opinion the information is highly beneficial in understanding the original authors lieu on how many people learn. In considering the authors said perspective, I truly believe he or she has captured what many people today consider the learning curve process.
